Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center will operate a booth at the 2016 Texworld USA, which runs from July 12 to 14 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

First held in 2006, Texworld USA is a major textile exhibition that takes place in New York, a world-leading fashion city. This year, more than 660 companies from 17 countries are expected to attend this event which will occupy a floor space of 25,000㎡.

Eleven textile companies from Gyeonggi will participate via the province’s booth. The provincial government will subsidize up to 50% of booth rental costs, booth equipment costs, transportation costs for exhibits (one-way), and general management costs for companies participating in the exhibition. The province will also help those companies find buyers in the American market through the Gyeonggi Textile Marketing Center in New York.

Of particular note, key global buyers, manufacturers, and exporters from the United States, Europe, and South/Central America will participate in the exhibition. The event itself will focus on business consultations, and is therefore expected to serve as a stepping stone for Gyeonggi enterprises seeking to enter the American market.

Gyeonggi Province Assistant Governor for Economy Park Shin-hwan said, “With 54.5% of Korean knit companies located in Gyeonggi Province, we are the engine for the Korean textile industry and a global hub for high quality knit products.” Park continued, “We hope to promote the excellence of Gyeonggi Province’s textile industry across the Americas at this year’s Texworld USA.”

Gyeonggi Province has been establishing Gyeonggi Textile Marketing Centers (GTC) around the world to stimulate textile industry exports and to resolve any difficulties encountered by textile enterprises in Gyeonggi Province. At present, three overseas branches and one marketing base have been established in the United States (Los Angeles and New York), China (Shanghai), and Brazil (São Paulo).
