Gyeonggi-do and the GSBC announced that it held the 2016 graduation ceremony of the ‘North Gyeonggi Dongducheon-si Merchants’ College’ on the 3rd floor of the Dongducheon Dodream Hope Center at 3 p.m. on the 5th of this month.

This year’s graduation ceremony was participated by a total of 70 people including 50 graduates and honorary guests including Hong, Seok-Woo (member of the Gyeonggi-do assembly), Park, Hyung-Duk (member of the Gyeonggi-do assembly), Kim, Kwan-Soo (Director of GSBC Northern Companies Support HQ), Jeong, Hye-Sook (Director of GSBC Economy HQ), and Jang, Young-Mi (member of the Dongducheon-si assembly).

Graduates of the 40-hour program received training on subjects such as shop management techniques, shop operations strategies, and market & shop vitalization strategies since August of last year.

During the event, 50 graduates received their diplomas while four outstanding students were honored with awards from the CEO of GSBC and Chairman of the Gyeonggi-do Assembly.

Ms. Jeong, Hye-Sook, the Director of GSBC Economy HQ, stated, “I believe that this year’s graduating class will serve an important role in the transition towards the full-fledged vitalization of the business district in Northern Gyeonggi Province. I hope that Dongducheon becomes a key city that will lead the development of the economy in the region through tireless effort and swift responses to the rapidly changing environment of the distribution industry.”

Ms. Kim, Geum-Ja, a graduate of the Merchants’ College Program, expressed her feelings about graduating by saying, “I gained confidence by learning that even the smallest businesses can survive in competition with large-scale stores if owners are able to understand market trends and countermeasures.”

GSBC plans to periodically host meetings for the graduates to strengthen networks formed among them. It also has plans to invest more effort into support programs connected to the Gyeonggi-do Micro-Enterprise Support Project as part of its post-management efforts.
